Consulting Engineer – Network & Wireless

CSA are looking for an experienced Consulting Engineer to join us during this exciting time of growth in our Sydney office. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and leading Wireless LAN and Networking projects for CSA’s customers, including (but not limited to):

  • Delivering WLAN consulting and assessment services
  • Designing solution architectures incorporating WLAN and related security elements
  • Implementing WLAN and network infrastructure solutions

Other responsibilities of the Consulting Engineer will include:

  • Acting as an SME in Wireless LAN design and implementation projects
  • Occasionally performing presales activities such as producing technical inputs required for qualified proposals (e.g. architecture diagrams, work statements, service estimates, bill of materials, assumptions/caveats)
  • Development of internal templates, standards, and knowledge base articles to assist with knowledge sharing for WLAN and networking solutions
  • Mentoring engineers / consultants, undertaking quality assurance of their work and acting as the point of escalation for WLAN and security related issues

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with wireless, networking or security technologies of which at least 3 years have been in a consulting, architect or design role
  • Proven record of accomplishment in a customer facing consulting engagements
  • Extensive hands on experience working with a broad range of network, wireless and security technologies
  • Ability to lead, work in a team, deliver quality outcomes, share knowledge and align with best practice
  • Personal interest with ability to learn and understand new and emerging technologies and solutions

Comprehensive subject matter expertise with WLAN, network and security technologies, including:

  • RF Design and WLAN Site survey methodologies and tools
  • Access point and WLAN controller configuration
  • Network Access Control and Authentication systems
  • WLAN Management Platforms
  • Firewall and Security system
  • Routing and Switching products

The Technologies

A detailed working knowledge of solutions and certification from a number of the following vendors is preferred, however experience with equivalent related technologies and vendors will be considered:

  • Aruba/ HPE
  • Palo Alto Networks
  • Cisco
  • Extreme Networks
  • Ekahau
  • Splunk

Desirable Experience

  • Working knowledge of Security Frameworks (e.g. SABSA) and Enterprise Architecture Frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)
  • Ability to interpret/apply standards, policies and legislation (e.g. ISO27001, PCI DSS, COBIT, SOX, DPA, HMG SPF)
  • Experience working with Splunk or similar data analytics platforms
  • Knowledge of ITIL-based service delivery management and associated IT operations management tools
  • Proficiency with designing infrastructure solutions including networking, compute, storage & application platforms
  • DevOps skills and experience with orchestration/configuration management tools (e.g. Puppet, Chef, Ansible)
  • Working knowledge of Public Cloud and SaaS security

Desirable Qualifications

  • A relevant university degree, or equivalent professional experience
  • Security Certifications – CISSP, SABSA, GCIH, GPEN, CEH
  • Vendor Certifications – ACMP,ACDX,ACCP,ACSP, CCNP,PCNSE
  • Other Certifications – CWNA,CWNP, ECSE
